Senegal police is on the look out for at least 50 inmates of a prison who escaped out of a prison in Senegal.
Senegal’s police spokesperson, Alioune N'Diaye, confirmed this when he said, "at least 50 inmates escaped on Saturday afternoon. Security measures have been put in place around the town to track down the fugitives.”
Senegal's director of prisons administration revealed that the inmates escaped while on their way back to their respective cells. This happened in Senegal’s Thies town, less than 100km from Senegal’s capital.
"The Thies prison is overcrowded. Many people who try to emigrate illegally are arrested en masse and have swollen prison numbers," Mbaye said. Three of the prisoners are already in Senegal’s police custody.
