Liverpool est sûrement attristé par le décès de Gerry Marsden (78 ans), ce dimanche, auteur du célèbre hymne du club « You will never walk alone ».
Fervent supporter de Liverpool depuis toujours, Marsden était le chanteur principal du groupe Merseybeat des années 1960, Gerry and the Pacemakers, dont l’interprétation de « You will never walk alone, Vous ne marcherez jamais seuls », a été adoptée par le Kop en 1963.
Cette chanson est devenue célèbre dans le monde entier en tant que hymne de Liverpool et est joué quelques instants avant le coup d’envoi de chaque match à domicile à Anfield.
Chanté à la fois en période de célébration et de compassion, cet hymne est inextricablement lié au club qu’il aimait.
